Extraordinary rendition, also known as irregular rendition or forced rendition, is the practice of transferring individuals from one jurisdiction to another, outside the legal framework and protections of the law. The practice has been used by the U.S. government and other governments as a way to detain and interrogate terrorism suspects in countries with less stringent laws and regulations regarding the treatment of prisoners.
