The Reefer Madness is an American movie about drugs and how high school students are pushed by the pushers to try out marijuana. The movie further portrays manslaughter, conspiracies, attempted rape, hit and run accidents, hallucinations, and several descents into madness especially due to marijuana addiction. The movie was released in 1936 and was directed by Louis J Gasnier. The movie is also known to cast mainly some little-known faces. Initially, it was financed by a church group and was intended for the parents out there as a mortality story while attempting to teach them about all the dangers related to the use of cannabis. Soon after the movie was shot it was purchased by a well-known producer called Dwain Esper, who later did several recuts in order to distribute the film on the exploitation film circuit. The movie was further rediscovered in the late ’70s and again gained life as an unintentional satire among all the advocates of cannabis reform policy.

The Movie Plot

Jack Perry and Mae Coleman and a cohabitating couple are known to sell marijuana in the film. However, Jack in spite of all objections from Mae sells it to teenagers. Mae on the other hand loves to stick towards adult clientele. On the other hand, a person called Ralph a college dropout turned dealer, helps Jack in getting hold of new customers.
