Nestled in the arid expanses of southern Nevada lies the enigmatic and highly classified United States Air Force facility known as Area 51. Officially dubbed Homey Airport or Groom Lake, after the adjacent salt flat, this clandestine site has been the nucleus of numerous conspiracy theories and UFO folklore, its operations shrouded in an impenetrable veil of secrecy.

Established in 1955 as a secluded testing ground for the Lockheed U-2 aircraft, Area 51’s origins are deeply entwined with the Cold War’s clandestine endeavors. Under the aegis of the Department of Defense and operated by the United States Air Force, this facility has evolved into a pivotal site for the development and testing of avant-garde aircraft and weapons systems.
